Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe(BVG) is the largest public transport company in Germany and the primary provider of urban mobility in Berlin. The company operates an extensive network of underground (U-Bahn), tram, bus, and ferry services that connect the city and ensure reliable transportation for millions of residents and visitors every day.
With its comprehensive transport system, BVG carries more than one billion passengers annually, providing safe, affordable, and environmentally friendly mobility throughout the city.
Operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, BVG plays a crucial role in maintaining Berlin’s dynamic urban life and supporting sustainable city development.
BVG operates one of the most extensive public transport networks in Europe. Its system includes:
•U-Bahn (Subway): 9 lines, around 175 stations, and approximately 155 km of track
•Tram: 22 lines forming a network of about 320 km
•Bus: Over 1,600 buses serving more than 1,800 km of routes
•Ferry services connecting waterways across Berlin
Together, these services cover thousands of stops and stations across the city, allowing passengers to move efficiently across Berlin’s urban area.
The purpose of branding for BVG goes beyond simply reorganizing or rebranding. It aims to highlight the history of BVG and share it with the citizens of Berlin. Since 1929, BVG has been part of the city for nearly a century, and this project encourages people to reflect on what role it plays in their daily lives.
